Robin's Jacket redraft and accessory

The redraft of the Robin's Jacket: Basically, I changed the collar and made the pockets in the seam line which I think will be more flattering on me. The new collar will be very similar to the one shown on this
Vogue Pattern

The Jacobean design purse (one shown on the left) is a purse that I will make which should be perfect with this more casual version of Robin's Jacket. Found this pattern at Country Carriage Quilts in Des Moines, WA in December when I was visiting with Linda.

Learning to blog is like....

I am discovering that learning the ins and outs of blogging is like trying your first Vogue pattern. The intimidation factor is very high.

I have created a photo website in Yahoo where I can post some ideas that I have shared with others on Sewing World. I have tried to post a link several times today and it is not working -- back to the "help" desk. I guess.

I had also found a cute "penny rug" type purse when I was at Carriage Quilts in Des Moines with Linda in December. Just the perfect size to take antiquing or to a quilt show. No room to put too much weight in it -- just a cell phone, debit card, mini-book for notes, glasses and keys.

I have read Linda's comments. It is so cool to have people be able to provide input, comments, etc. This could be very cool.

Inspirations for Diane

I regularly read the "Sharing Inspiration and Project Photos"
thread on Sewing World.

This thread has not only provided me with renewed enthusiasm for the art of sewing, but also provided an amazing amount of information and knowledge about the craft of sewing. There are some amazing sewists that post pictures there. What I enjoy most is the sense of collegiality and acceptance of all levels of talent -- from emerging to highly tuned. I highly recommend that all who are interested in sewing, check out this thread.

Below are some of the projects that I plan for spring/summer:

I plan to do this pattern: in a lovely blue fleece with black piping. Pockets will be in seam without the inward curve and the collar will be redrafted for a more flattering look on my body.

I love this Oscar de la Renta outfit -- especially the rows of topstitching that bring some interest to the edges although I will need to rethink the pockets. You can really see the detailing on the line drawings so be sure to scroll down. This is a great casual outfit, that looks comfortable without being too casual.

I am going to learn how to post pattern photo and other inspirations instead of having to use the url version. My project for the weekend.

What is Sew Inspirational?

This blog has been created to provide an electronic means of communicating sewing inspirations, projects, photos, and patterns with my daughter, sisters and friends.
